CHIEF ACCOUNTANT (Start-up company)
The primary responsibility of the Accounting Manager will be to manage the accounting for Bulgaria, ensuring accurate and timely reporting on the results, managing cash forecast and banking, ensuring compliance with local regulations and standards, leading and/or assisting with special projects and maintaining the chart of accounts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Managing the day-to-day accounting and prepare vendor payments, salary runs and other payments;
- Managing the monthly and quarterly closing process;
- Ensuring compliance with Local rules and regulations for both reporting, filing and tax (both CIT and VAT);
- Preforming monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts;
- Communicating, frequently and effectively, with various departments and global counterparts to ensure the production of accurate and timely financial information in accordance with local rules and regulations;
- Providing cash management insight through cash forecasting and take an active role in leading or assisting on any special projects assigned and meet deadlines related to those assignments;
- Maintaining the local chart of accounts and enforce the GL standardization as provided by the company;
- Providing oversight and review the work and provide timely feedback for improvement;
- Collaborating with external auditors and ensure proper preparation and review of all responses to information document requests;
- Managing staff and organize department functions in accordance with company guidelines;
- Consistently delivering a high-quality work product and maintain a high focus on the level of detail on reporting deliverables;
- Establishing and maintaining good relationships with other departments and global counterparts throughout the organization;
- Ensuring standards, protocols, and policies are communicated and executed effectively;
- Working to address operational improvement opportunities by establishing standards and protocols in collaboration with the company and HQ Accounting team members.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance/Accounting or other relevant field;
- At least 5+ years of finance/accounting experience within the industry or public accounting firm is a must;
- A team player who can communicate well, give directions, review the work of others, and provide guidance and counsel when needed to achieve department goals and objectives;
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience;
- Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts;
- Additional professional certifications such as CPA would be an advantage;
- Experience working in a fast-paced and busy environment;
- Knowledge in U.S. GAAP would be of a great advantage;
- Proficiency in English - written and spoken.
